About The Position

Launch your imaging career with hands-on clinical experience while working alongside experienced radiologic professionals. The Imaging Services Student Tech role provides students with the opportunity to develop technical skills and apply classroom knowledge in a clinical setting under the supervision of registered technologists and radiologists. The Imaging Services Student Tech assists with imaging procedures and department operations while gaining practical experience in a healthcare environment. Under the direct supervision of a registered technologist and/or radiologist, the student performs approved duties that support patient care, imaging quality, safety, and workflow efficiency.

Requirements

  • Must be an active 2nd year student in ARRT, ARDMS, CNMT, or NMCTB approved school.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

Nice To Haves

  • Students may assist with positioning patients but must never hold a detector or a patient during radiation-producing procedures.
  • Students may assist with contrast preparation but will not load or prime injectors.
  • All clinical activities must be performed under appropriate supervision and within established student scope-of-practice guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist technologists with patient positioning and imaging procedures while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
  • Perform imaging procedures at an approved technical level under the supervision of a registered technologist or radiologist.
  • Utilize imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data in accordance with established protocols and competency requirements.
  • Obtain high-quality diagnostic images while adhering to radiation safety standards and departmental procedures.
  • Assist with modality-specific examinations and patient preparation.
  • Support radiologists and technologists with contrast setup; however, students will not be responsible for loading or priming injectors.
  • Complete daily equipment inspections, equipment warm-up procedures, and quality control activities under technologist supervision.
  • Arrive patients, track examinations, scan documentation, and schedule exams within the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Maintain clinical competency and proficiency on completed skills and assigned equipment.
  • Follow all departmental, hospital, and regulatory safety standards.
