The Imaging Patient Assistant is responsible for assisting patients in preparation for exams, providing basic instructions for routine procedures, and transporting patients between exam rooms and departments. This role also involves escorting patients, families, and visitors as needed. The assistant will utilize radiology computer systems for requisitions, scheduling, and patient information retrieval. Responsibilities include organizing and preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment. The role also involves greeting patients and visitors, answering the telephone, screening calls, scheduling appointments, and taking messages. The assistant will act as a liaison between physicians, radiologists, and technologists, and will provide radiology reports and images upon request. Duties also include filing, retrieving, and releasing health information records and films, compiling film jackets/discs, completing documentation, and communicating patient observations to the healthcare team. Routine maintenance and quality monitoring of imaging equipment, as well as assisting with MRI implant screening, are also part of the role. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care and understand principles of growth and development.
