The Imaging Patient Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting patient care within the Radiology department. This position involves assisting patients with exam preparation, providing basic instructions for routine procedures, and transporting patients between rooms and departments. The assistant also escorts patients, families, and visitors as needed. Key responsibilities include utilizing radiology computer systems for requisitions and patient information, organizing and preparing exam rooms, and maintaining equipment and supplies. The role also involves greeting patients and visitors, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and acting as a liaison between physicians, radiologists, and technologists. Providing radiology reports and images, managing health information records, and documenting patient observations are also integral parts of the job. Additionally, the assistant performs routine maintenance and quality monitoring of imaging equipment and assists with screening and documenting MRI implants. A critical aspect of this role is demonstrating knowledge of age-specific care for patients across the lifespan.
