About The Position

UTHealth Houston's Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging is hiring for an Imaging Informatics Systems Analyst. This role is responsible for the daily operations of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging's informatics and RIS/PACS Systems. The position will also provide project management services for the IT staff and department, execute project initiation including detailed review of business requirements, and prepare data and biomedical informatics metrics. The role keeps projects on track while managing risk and controlling quality, and assists with the initiation of internal, enterprise-wide level projects as requested, obtains authorization and commitment and ensures that project demonstrates business need and feasibility for the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging's needs. The incumbent will play a significant role in the Department's Informatics shared operations with the Medical School's clinical partners which total twelve institutions. The role will also be expected to access various clinical databases and provide reports for the Department's leadership for review and collaborate with interface engine teams as well as other teams to get HL7 messages and DICOM images to teleradiology work locations.

Requirements

  • 5 years of RIS/ PACS administration experience required
  • Bachelor's Degree required. May substitute required education with equivalent years of experience beyond the minimum experience requirement.

  • Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot Redhat, Centos, and Ubuntu Linux server & workstation operating systems for imaging research devices.
  • Ability to assess and solve technical problems related to RIS/ PACS and Voice Recognition digital dictation software, HL7 interface messages related to the imaging orders.
  • Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot Macintosh operating systems and clinical applications such as OSIRIX.
  • Advanced working knowledge of LAN/ WAN networking in clinical settings including the ability to install, configure and troubleshoot variant DICOM and PACS devices.
  • Familiarity with X-CAT distributed computing management software to assist with Linux cluster administration
  • Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) by American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII) preferred
  • Radiography (R) by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) by Red Hat (RH) preferred
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) by Red Hat (RH) preferred
  • Breast Sonography (BS) by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial configuration and testing of RIS/PACS installations.
  • Responsible for the daily operations of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging's informatics and RIS/PACS Systems.
  • Train physicians, clinicians, technologists and other hospital partners in the use of RIS/PACS systems.
  • Installation of software and applications on user systems.
  • Provide project management services for the IT staff and department.
  • Execute project initiation including detailed review of business requirements.
  • Prepare data and biomedical informatics metrics.
  • Keep projects on track while managing risk and controlling quality.
  • Assist with the initiation of internal, enterprise-wide level projects as requested, obtain authorization and commitment and ensure that project demonstrates business need and feasibility for the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging's needs.
  • Access various clinical databases and provide reports for the Department's leadership for review.
  • Collaborate with interface engine teams as well as other teams to get HL7 messages and DICOM images to teleradiology work locations.
  • Access Epic Radiant RIS, Fujifilm Synapse PACS and PowerScribe One Reporting System to extract clinical data and provide statistical analysis to Vice Chair of Imaging Informatics and to the Chair of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging department.
  • Provide support for clinical server infrastructure issues, and clinical database management including day-to-day support for Nuance PowerShare.
  • Provide high-end applications support for all medical imaging systems the Department currently uses.
  • Provide project management support with work breakdown structures to maximize efficiency for imaging workflows.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
