About The Position

The Imaging Informatics Specialist III is responsible for the day-to-day support, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the Radiology and Cardiology PACS system as well as other support systems used within the Imaging Services departments. Additionally, is responsible for all communications between PACS vendors and Department. Will be involved with EPIC interfacing between PACS. PACS System Administrator interfaces with technologists, Radiology Administration, and Physicians. Prepares reports for department administrator, assists in planning for and installing system hardware and software upgrades and provides system training for new users.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or 2 years of college coursework
  • Five years of related experience.
  • Requires broad knowledge of complex systems and procedures.
  • Must work well as a team member with the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Associates Degree or equivalent with 5 years of relevant experience required in Radiology and or computer science.
  • Strong Technical Skills, Communication Skills, Professional Drive, Written and Presentation Skills.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Imaging Systems and related third party vendors, SQL database, practical understanding of HL7 standards & DICOM, ability to write database queries, design and architecture.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Imaging Informatics Professional Certification preferred.
  • ARRT, ARDMS, CNMT or other Imaging Certification from an AMA approved school of Radiology preferred.
  • Preferred knowledge of and experience with Imaging PACS systems (Sectra Radiology, Philips Cardiology) and related software including, but not limited to, Powerscribe, Powershare, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day support, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the Radiology and Cardiology PACS system and other support systems.
  • Manage all communications between PACS vendors and the Department.
  • Involved with EPIC interfacing between PACS.
  • Interface with technologists, Radiology Administration, and Physicians.
  • Prepare reports for department administrator.
  • Assist in planning for and installing system hardware and software upgrades.
  • Provide system training for new users.
  • Proficient with Imaging Software and Hardware Systems to include, but not limited to: PACS (Radiology & Cardiology), third party vendor integration and support, DICOM & HL7 standards, RIS, et al. Skilled with troubleshooting these systems.
  • Monitors archive functions, security and quality assurance of imaging informatics software systems and related third party devices.
  • Imaging Informatics application leader & subject matter expert for the healthcare system. responsible for implementation of imaging and related soft hardware, third party devices.
  • Manages application connectivity and installation, testing (new, upgrades & fixes), monitoring, support end user processes and ongoing support.
  • Designs and monitors routine maintenance and calibration.
  • On call duties as assigned.
  • Provides input for capital budget planning and service contract evaluation of computer systems.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance Program. Is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, Compliance Officer or HOT LINE.
  • Works within the framework established by the IT & Imaging Departments and follows all appropriate policy and protocols put in place by the IT & Imaging Departments.
  • Expertise with core infrastructure elements and how they relate to provide cohesive environment.
  • Ability to consult with other analysts and specialists. Serve as the Imaging Informatics Subject Matter Expert.
  • Promotes cross division best practices through strong collaboration and communication.
  • Ability to resolve highly complex issues regarding Imaging Applications.
  • Assists in developing strategies for training tools.
  • Champions standardization, utilization and optimization of systems.
  • Ensures system design, interface functionality, and clinical processes are coordinated and functioning effectively.
  • Responsible for application management, testing of upgrades and fixes for multiple systems.
  • Works with manager and director to establish goals and priorities in overall management of Imaging applications, services and related technology, both current and anticipated.
  • Plans and assists in PACS upgrades, migrations and new implementations.
  • Document system configurations and maintain technical documentation.
  • Provide Tier 2 3 support for PACS related issues.
  • Provides mentorship to Imaging Informatics Support Specialist(s) and Imaging Informatics Specialists (s) II.
  • Must be able to guide and delegate while keeping leadership informed.
