About The Position

Functions as a member of the patient care centered health team under the supervision of the Radiology Technologist. This role involves assisting the Technologist in completing daily operational activities, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining the cleanliness and supply levels of the unit and equipment. The associate will interact with patients, families, and other healthcare workers with respect and kindness.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the patient BILL of RIGHTS, HIPPA, by incorporating them into their practice.
  • Demonstrates commitment to unit and human resource policies.
  • Recognizes mission, vision, values, and strategic direction of the institution.
  • Effective problem solving and resolution skills.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and developmental characteristics of the patient.

Nice To Haves

  • Less than 1 year in a hospital setting or completion of certified paramedic, EMT or medical corpsman training.
  • Previous clinical experience.
  • Pursues validation of knowledge base, skill level, and decision making and seeks guidance in areas of question.
  • Demonstrates self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet own professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of patients for Imaging procedures.
  • Facilitating patient handling, including transporting patients to and from dressing rooms, exam rooms, and back to ER rooms.
  • Initiating and completing paperwork related to patient exams/care as indicated by the technologist.
  • Assisting patients on and off the procedure table.
  • Providing support and assistance to technologists and Radiologists, including screening phone calls, exam setup, and post-exam cleanup.
  • Maintaining stock supplies and linen in exam rooms.
  • Completing light housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Working in areas and on shifts as assigned by Manager/Clinical Specialist.
  • Assisting in patient transportation when needed.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of the patient Bill of Rights and HIPAA, and incorporating them into practice.
  • Participating in the development and attainment of unit, department, and divisional goals.
  • Reporting changes in patient status to the Radiologist, nurse, and/or technologist.
  • Establishing and maintaining direct, honest, open professional relationships with all health care team members, patients, and families.
  • Actively supporting JCAHO and HIPAA standards.
  • Completing hospital and departmental required education.
