About The Position

Under the direction of the Radiology Director and Manager, this role provides clerical support to assist in the overall operation of the department and acts as a receptionist to assist and direct patients and visitors. It is described as more than a career, but a calling.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Radiology office experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• Exposure to blood and body fluid.
• Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other biological hazards.
• Ability to stand for and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull 100 plus pounds using proper lifting and body mechanics.
• Ability to move and transfer patients.
• Completion of all annual mandatory training (Safety/Fire, Blood Borne Pathogen, Hazardous Communication, TB, Department Specific, HIPAA, Assigned .EDU courses).

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical support in all aspects of the Radiology Department, including answering phones, managing films, processing films for reading, printing accession sheets, managing ER boards, checking films in/out, assisting at the window following Target 100 standards, filing films, processing red jackets/loose films, cleaning film jackets, processing films from Record Master, retrieving portable films from the ER, answering the main office bell, entering patient orders into Meditech, and utilizing the hospital computer system.
• Observe established departmental policies, safety, environmental, and infection control standards, including maintaining a clean work area, adhering to safety and infection control policies, and reporting faulty equipment.
• Assist Technologists as needed to ensure patient care is delivered smoothly and effectively, which may include assisting with patient transportation, watching patients, and assisting in moving patients on and off stretchers.
• Attend departmental inservices and meetings as instructed by the Supervisor, including orientations, required in-services, departmental meetings (or reading minutes), and reviewing education poster boards.
• Perform other duties as appropriate and needed by supervisors, demonstrating cooperation, professionalism, initiative, enthusiasm, and seeking out duties.
• Practice according to safety and infection control policies, including universal precautions, proper disposal of hazardous wastes, maintaining a safe and clean environment, minimizing noise, adhering to dress code, reporting risk management concerns, and completing all annual mandatory training (Safety/Fire, Blood Borne Pathogen, Hazardous Communication, TB, Department Specific, HIPAA, Assigned .EDU courses).
• Follow Target 100 Standards for service excellence, demonstrating respect and compassion, following the hospital confidentiality policy, recognizing diverse needs, working collaboratively, and answering questions knowledgeably or directing them appropriately.
• Incorporate Quality Improvement into daily work by reviewing departmental QI, QA, & QC information and providing data/input to Radiology management staff for QI Teams projects.
