Thrive Support Services is hiring a part-time Independent Living Skills (ILS) Instructor fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) to work one-on-one with people with developmental disabilities in the Oakland territory. The office is in Martinez, California, and clients are located throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Instructors support clients in pursuing personal goals for independence and community participation by teaching life skills in a motivating, personalized, and professional environment. The organization seeks people who want to make a difference, enjoy teaching and learning, respect clients’ independence, and can work independently while communicating with their team and supervisor. Instructors must be comfortable adapting to unexpected challenges and following through on commitments. A reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance are required; instructors must be willing to drive clients to appointments and errands. Mileage is reimbursed. Thrive Support Services was founded in 2007 to help adults with developmental disabilities thrive in their own homes and chosen communities. It serves clients across Alameda and Contra Costa Counties and holds that individuals should be able to live where they choose and with the people they want by their side.
