The IEP Coordinator is responsible for the training of special education teachers and/or paraprofessionals and monitoring of the IEP process. The role involves reviewing educational records, facilitating IEP conferences for students entering alternative schools, preparing and disseminating professional development on FAPE/LRE, SER, and IEP guidelines, and assisting in the collection of SER information. The coordinator will also monitor IEPs, consult with special education teachers on IEP development, plan and oversee Extended School Year (ESY), and provide support regarding federal and state laws and regulations. Additionally, the role assists in collecting compliance data for IDEA and MFP counts, monitors compliance reports, collaborates on special education compliance, reviews and recommends plans for improvement, and conducts class walk-throughs for IEP compliance. The IEP Coordinator attends IEP meetings upon request and implements CPI training and Act 479 processes, as well as district procedures for seclusion and restraint.
