About The Position

The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Identity and Driver Credential Specialist 1. This is a full-time role with a salary of $32,000 annually (non-negotiable). The DDS is a progressive agency focused on providing secure driver and identity credentials with excellence and respect. As an Identity and Driver Credential Specialist 1, you will assist State of Georgia residents by issuing learner's permits, converting out-of-state licenses, administering driving examinations, and issuing identity cards in compliance with state laws and regulations. This role requires working with diverse populations, patience, attention to detail, and the ability to handle tasks quickly, accurately, and efficiently within established guidelines. DDS believes in internal mobility and offers career advancement opportunities, with a potential promotion to Identity and Driver Credential Specialist 2 after 12 months of satisfactory employment, including a salary increase.

Requirements

Must be eighteen (18) years of age
Completion of a high school diploma or GED is required
A valid Georgia Class C or equivalent License is required and must be maintained while employed in this position.
At least one (1) year of Face-to-face Customer Service experience within the last five years
At least one (1) year of Face-to-face experience with cash transactions including handling cash, daily reconciliation, and processing credit card payments within the last five years.
Comfortable working with computer and internet technology.

At least three (3) years of recent Face-to-face experience with cash transactions including handling cash, daily reconciliation, and processing credit card payments within the last five years
Live within 30 miles of the Customer Service Center for which you are applying

Responsibilities

Working with citizens to ensure applications, records and documents are completed accurately.
Accompanying drivers in vehicles, both in a traditional and virtual capacity, to evaluate their ability to adhere to Georgia’s driving laws.
Conducting driving examinations for motorcycle and commercial licenses in accordance with state law and regulations.
Operating visual testing equipment.
Accurately collecting payments via cash or credit cards.
