About The Position

The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Identity and Driver Credential Specialist 1. This is a full-time role with a non-negotiable annual salary of $32,000. The DDS is a progressive agency focused on providing secure driver and identity credentials with excellence and respect. As an Identity and Driver Credential Specialist 1, you will assist State of Georgia residents by issuing learner's permits, converting out-of-state licenses, awarding driver's licenses, and issuing identity cards in compliance with state laws. The role requires working within established guidelines, interacting comfortably with a diverse population, and demonstrating patience and attention to detail. The agency also offers career mobility opportunities, with potential advancement to Identity and Driver Credential Specialist 2 after 12-18 months of satisfactory employment.

Requirements

Must be eighteen (18) years of age
Completion of a high school diploma or GED is required
A valid Georgia Class C or equivalent License is required and must be maintained while employed in this position.
At least one (1) year of Face-to-face Customer Service experience within the last five years
At least one (1) year of Face-to-face experience with cash transactions including handling cash, daily reconciliation, and processing credit card payments within the last five years.
Comfortable working with computer and internet technology.
A valid Georgia driver’s license is required and must be maintained while employed in this position. Non-Georgia residents must have a recognized equivalent license. If a valid Georgia driver’s license has not been held for at least three years at the time of application, you will be required to obtain a Motor Vehicle record from the previous state of licensure prior to hire.
Successful completion of the CCKE (Certified Commercial Knowledge Examiner) Certification, a national certification, is required by all employees who issue driver’s licenses.
Employees who conduct CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) road tests must successfully complete the CDL Examiner Certification and the CCE (Certified Commercial Examiner) Certification.
Employees must maintain these requirements to continue employment with DDS.
Employees must have flexible work availability due to customer service centers having varied operational hours.
DDS employees may be required as a term and condition of employment, to assist in meeting the responsibilities of the Department. In addition, they may be required to perform responsibilities that are not regularly assigned to them in order to continue the operations of the agency which includes assisting other centers. Management will work with employee regarding the locations and mode of transportation.

Responsibilities

Working with citizens to ensure applications, records and documents are completed accurately.
Accompanying drivers in vehicles, both in a traditional and virtual capacity, to evaluate their ability to adhere to Georgia’s driving laws.
Conducting driving examinations for motorcycle and commercial licenses in accordance with state law and regulations.
Operating visual testing equipment.
Accurately collecting payments via cash or credit cards.
