About The Position

State Farm’s Identity and Access Management product suite is seeking an Identity & Access Control Analyst with a software development background to join the Authorization Management team. The team provides business areas with tooling, solutions, and oversight to define and maintain the principle of least privilege. The role works across the enterprise to design and develop solutions for managing access and entitlements for human and non-human identities.

The position develops, automates, tests, and supports identity and access management tools and end-to-end information security solutions. It includes building access certification workflows and integrations with authoritative identity and access data sources; developing secure backend services and APIs; supporting remediation and evidence retention; and participating in product delivery and production operations. The role also develops and maintains security procedures and strategies, researches emerging security topics, and collaborates with technology teams to integrate identity and access controls into applications and solutions.

This is a hybrid position for qualified candidates in or near Dunwoody, Georgia; Richardson, Texas; Tempe, Arizona; or Bloomington, Illinois. The role may require nights and weekends. Requirements

• Prior software development experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with application development tools, including editors and compilers.
• Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines and automation tools.
• Experience with React or Angular.
• Experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Experience with source code management tools such as Git and GitLab.
• Understanding of software design patterns, testing techniques, and software security scanning.
• Ability to build and maintain applications and tools using scripting languages such as Perl, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Node.js, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical knowledge to multiple audiences.
• Experience with API development and testing tools such as Bruno or Insomnia.
• Experience with credential management tools such as HashiCorp Vault or AWS Secrets Manager.
• Experience with an integrated development environment such as Visual Studio or IntelliJ IDEA.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation, self-service strategies, and tooling options for identity and access management; develop, automate, and support the tools.
• Develop, support, and test end-to-end information security solutions, controls, tools, and techniques to govern and protect State Farm assets.
• Develop, document, and maintain identity and access control strategies, operational procedures, guidelines, and processes.
• Apply identity and access control concepts and practices in accordance with industry standards, security and risk-management techniques, and governance and compliance requirements.
• Research emerging identity and access security topics, threats, capabilities, and solution options.
• Work with technology teams to understand needs and integrate identity and access controls into technologies and solutions.
• Understand application security and access models and design Role-Based Access Control roles to support them.
• Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies and related practices, including AWS, new platforms, vendor products, Agile, Product Management, and DevOps.
• Build and maintain access certification workflows that create, route, track, and close access review campaigns.
• Integrate with identity and access data sources to collect accurate user, account, role, group, and entitlement data from authoritative systems.
• Design secure and reliable APIs and backend services for certification, reporting, workflow orchestration, and integrations, enforcing security controls.
• Build processes that turn certification decisions into revocation tasks, automated deprovisioning, tickets, or exception records.
• Capture and retain reliable evidence of access reviews, reviewers, decisions, and remediation for auditability.
• Contribute to story refinement, development, testing, code reviews, deployments, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Protect identity, entitlement, and security data using access controls, logging, encryption, and separation of duties.
• Handle service tickets; communicate with business partners; support business continuity, Viva Engage, control audits, and implemented controls.
• Use discretion and appropriate security measures when handling confidential and sensitive information.
