This position will oversee the state complaint management procedures in accordance with Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act and Article 9 of North Carolina General Statute 115C.1. This position fulfills the state of North Carolina’s legal obligation under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA). Ensure state-wide compliance with Federal Regulations, State statutes and policies on an individual and systemic basis. Provide information and legal analysis to all informal inquiries. Report dispute resolution data and analysis of data to the Legislature, State Board of Education, the Council on Educational Services for Exceptional Children, and the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). Ensure compliance with IDEA, State statutes and policies this position provides training and technical assistance to Local Education Agencies (LEAs), State Operated Programs, parents and organizations. This is a 90% homebased position and requires 10% minimal travel.
