The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) District 2 (Multnomah County) is looking for 1 (one) permanent full-time supervisor for the Child Protective Services Unit of its Indian Child Welfare Act (“ICWA”) Program. Our ICWA Program includes 6 dedicated CPS workers, 9 dedicated permanency workers, 2 dedicated support staff, 1 dedicated Case Aid, 1 dedicated certifier and 1 dedicated family time coordinator. Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in human services or a field related to human services and two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related human services experience; OR A bachelor’s degree unrelated to human services and completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency and two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services; OR An associate degree and three years of human services related experience two years of which must have included lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR An associate degree and completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency AND two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services.

Nice To Haves

Recent Child Protective Service Caseworker and Leadership Experience
Extensive knowledge and ability to apply the Indian Child Welfare Act and the Oregon Indian Child Welfare Act.
Experience supporting Tribal Sovereignty, respecting and upholding the inherent authority of Tribes to govern their own communities.
Experience communicating in a way that respects Tribal protocols, values and communication styles.
Experience engaging and working with Tribes, Urban Indian communities, community partners, and organizations; both in state as well as nationally.
Experience providing culturally responsive and Tribal Based Practices to holistically support AI/AN children and families.
Effective Prioritization and Accountability - Experience using time management, organization, and prioritization skills to track and complete tasks. Implement Organizational objectives to ensure the quantity and quality of work is achieved.
Crisis Management - Experience in applying crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques to de-escalate emotionally charged situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients, families, and staff while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
Supervision - Experience managing teams, resources, and operations effectively to achieve organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

Supervise Child Welfare social service staff to ensure that the mission of the Department of Human Services is carried out by providing services directly to children and families in accordance with state and federal laws with a particular focus on the Indian Child Welfare Act (“ICWA”) and ORICWA, the Oregon law that protects American Indian / Alaska Native Children.
Manage your teams’ Child Welfare safety practice and adherence to the Oregon Safety Model.
Coordinate client services, case planning and placement preferences with the Nine Tribes of Oregon, and other Tribal Nations across the United States while caring for their children .
Maintain cooperative working relationships with community partners and provide continuous review of programs and standards which affect the quality, safety and permanency of children's lives.
While consulting with Tribal Nations , you will make decisions about the level and type of services provided to client families.
The supervisor is responsible for personnel management, including interviewing, selection of new staff, staff promotions, recommendations for salary increases, reassignment, completing performance appraisals, responding to grievances, rewarding excellent performance and taking disciplinary actions when required.
