About The Position

Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital is seeking an overnight ICU Veterinary Technician or Assistant to join their growing team. This is an opportunity to work in the only specialty hospital east of Raleigh, NC, serving patients across North Carolina and southern Virginia. The hospital is a privately owned, VECCS-certified Level III facility, operating out of a new, state-of-the-art building. They are committed to advancing veterinary care and are located in Wilson, NC. Points East offers specialty care in Surgery, Critical Care, and Internal Medicine, supported by Advanced Diagnostic Imaging. They utilize up-to-date diagnostic techniques and advanced treatment options, with round-the-clock staffing by veterinarians and support staff to provide comprehensive specialty care.

Requirements

Experience working in a veterinary emergency, ICU, or critical care setting.
Strong understanding of veterinary emergency procedures, patient handling, and basic medical terminology.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with the veterinary team and pet owners in a professional and compassionate manner.
Demonstrated care and empathy for canine and feline patients, providing comfort and reassurance to patients in distress.
Strong observational skills and attention to detail to accurately report patient behavior and condition to the veterinary team.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Provide care for patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) during overnight shifts.
Assist specialty doctors and the veterinary team.
Communicate effectively with the veterinary team and pet owners.
Observe and accurately report patient behavior and condition.
Prioritize tasks, manage time, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
