About The Position

The Telemetry Technician is responsible for continuous electrocardiographic monitoring, interpretation, and notification of patients’ heart rhythms. This role is part of the Appleton ICU team, a 16-bed, fast-paced, general medical/surgical/cardiac Intensive Care Unit with a focus on cardiothoracic/vascular surgeries and complex cardiac procedures. The technician will work a 12-hour day shift (7a-7p) with every third weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred
• Must be 18 years of age
• Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
• Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

Responsibilities

• Performs continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms from a centralized telemetry department.
• Skillfully recognizes and interprets cardiac rhythms.
• Completes measurement and documentation per policy and department standards.
• Effectively communicates with members of the care team regarding the rhythm interpretation.
• Provides customer service including responding to frequent and potentially complex questions from internal and external customers in a timely, positive, and professional manner.
• Assists in supporting daily department workflow through effective coordination, communication, and prioritization of department activities.
• Collaborates with biomedical and information services to maintain and troubleshoot electronic monitoring equipment.
• Performs daily inventory and cleaning of telemetry monitoring boxes.
