As a Registered Nurse in the Stepdown Unit, you will help patients transitioning from intensive care achieve optimal health and independence so they can return home safely and confidently. This role involves providing direct patient care, including medication administration, monitoring vital signs, and managing complex patient needs. You will be expected to collaborate effectively with physicians, other healthcare providers, and patients and their families. To be successful, strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills are essential.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse license in good standing, State of Arkansas or compact state license required prior to start date
  • 1 year of acute care stepdown and/or ICU experience is required
  • BLS through the American Heart Association is required within 30 days
  • ACLS through the American Heart Association is required within 90 days

Nice To Haves

  • Previous step down and/or ICU experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Help patients transitioning from intensive care achieve optimal health and independence so they can return home safely and confidently
  • Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, monitoring vital signs, and managing complex patient needs
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, other healthcare providers, and patients and their families
  • Checking patients' health status daily and making note of any changes or concerns
  • Caring for multiple patients throughout the same shift, often varying in age and condition
  • Monitoring patients with life-saving medical equipment such as IVs, catheters, feeding tubes and ventilators
  • Providing a comfortable and secure environment for the patient while acting as their advocate
