About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position on the Main Nursing Unit at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Pflugerville. The unit has a patient population including Medical Surgical, Orthopedics, Intermediate Care, and Critical Care. The unit currently has 25 beds with plans to double in size. This is a mixed acuity unit, and candidates must have Intermediate Care (IMC) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience. Flexibility to work in Med/Surg, ICU, and IMC units based on department needs is required. Requirements

Graduated from an Accredited Program with a specialized field of study in nursing.
RN license.
BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of starting.
Intermediate Care (IMC) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience.
Flexibility to work in Med/Surg, ICU, and IMC units based upon department needs.
Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area.
Understanding of hospital procedures and rules.
Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Responsibilities

Oversee patient care using a professional practice model.
Conduct patient assessments, recognize health issues, create care plans, and assess patient responses.
Secure patient travel.
Understand patient needs in healthcare and help patients prevent issues.
Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.
Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting them to reach desired outcomes.
Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members, empowering them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
Assess and document learning needs regularly.
Work with colleagues and the community to create a care plan.
Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to growth.
Contribute to peers' development and show commitment to community service.
