About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center–Temple is seeking a Full‑Time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU) team at our Level One Trauma Center. The CTICU provides care for adults with complex cardiac conditions, including multisystem organ failure, using advanced life‑support technologies. The unit is a 14-bed high-acuity CTICU and has received recognitions such as Certified Chest Pain Center, Certified Heart Transplant & VAD Center, Gold Level ECMO Center, and a Three-Star Cardiac Surgery Program. The role offers strong leadership support, collaborative multidisciplinary teams, professional development opportunities, and positive physician-nurse relationships.

Requirements

  • Grad of an Accredited RN Program
  • Specialized field of study should be nursing.
  • RN license.
  • Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.
  • 2 Years of ICU experience required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient care using a professional practice model.
  • Conduct patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses.
  • Secure patient travel.
  • Understand patient needs in healthcare.
  • Help patients and prevent issues.
  • Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members, empowering them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
  • Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan.
  • Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
  • Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth.
  • Contribute to peers' development, show community service commitment.
