About The Position

University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is seeking extraordinary Registered Nurses (RNs) to join their nursing team. UMMC is a world-class, Magnet-designated Academic Medical Center located in downtown Baltimore. The General (Main) PACU is a 28-bay unit providing 24/7 specialized peri-anesthesia care to patients across the lifespan and spectrum of acuity. The unit provides pre and post-operative care to inpatients and outpatients undergoing scheduled or emergency surgery by more than 20 surgical and procedural services. Nurses must be competent in titration of vasopressors, airway management, care of ventilated patients, blood product administration and fluid resuscitation. This role is ideal for energetic individuals who enjoy applying critical care concepts to dynamic patient care experiences.

Requirements

• Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Maryland or eligible to practice under a compact license.
• ACLS required for hire.
• PALS required within 6 months of hire.
• Must be flexible, adaptable and able to critically think through complex patient scenarios.
• At least 1-2 years of preferred experience in ICU such as Surgical, Medical, and Neuro in an inpatient facility.

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred (Associates Nurses with at least 2+ years of experience).

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 specialized peri-anesthesia care to patients across the lifespan and spectrum of acuity.
• Provide vigilant pre and post-operative care to inpatients and outpatients undergoing scheduled or emergency surgery.
• Titrate vasopressors.
• Manage airways.
• Care for ventilated patients.
• Administer blood products.
• Perform fluid resuscitation.
