The ICU Nursing Assistant will assist the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This includes tasks such as bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, assisting with activity orders and ambulation, and proper patient positioning and transferring. The role involves accurate measurement and documentation of vital signs, intake and output, and daily weights in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The Nursing Assistant will also perform purposeful rounding, collect specimens, maintain nursing area stock, and clean equipment and work areas. Additionally, the position requires performing patient positioning and transporting duties, assisting with nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, and ensuring special patient supplies are provided. Depending on unit requirements and under RN direction, tasks may include IV removal, post-mortem care, and bladder scans. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is crucial. The role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles.
