About The Position

The ICT Shop Floor Control Specialist (Level 92) serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for shop floor control solutions supporting Assembly plant operations across North America. This role is accountable for the end‑to‑end ownership, stability, and evolution of Shop Floor Control systems, including execution PLC logic, sequencing, dispatching, WIP tracking, traceability, and production status visibility. The specialist partners closely with Plant Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Launch teams, and strategic suppliers to ensure production‑critical systems enable safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing from order release through build completion. The role leads complex initiatives supporting new program launches, line retooling, and digital transformation, while driving standardization, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across plants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 3 years in manufacturing with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/Studio 5000.
  • Software: Proficiency in RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, and SQL.
  • Hardware: Knowledge of ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and PowerFlex drives.
  • IT Knowledge: Networking (LAN/WAN, Ethernet/IP) and understanding of MES or IT-OT convergence
  • Excellent communication, decision‑making, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to influence across functions, lead without authority, and operate effectively in high‑pressure production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develops & supports MES, SCADA, and SQL databases, connecting shop floor devices to higher-level IT systems.
  • PLC Programming: Developing, debugging, and modifying Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix.
  • Network & Data Integration: Connecting PLC data to MES, SCADA, and SPC systems, allowing shop floor data to feed real-time dashboards.
  • Troubleshooting: Maintaining electrical controls, including VFDs (PowerFlex), HMI (PanelView), and I/O devices.
  • Data Acquisition: Managing data flow from raw PLC inputs to SQL databases for tracking and traceability.
  • Security & Upgrades: Assisting with firmware upgrades and cybersecurity for networked industrial systems.
  • Performs hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, and modification of PLC logic.
  • Lead incident, problem, and risk management for production‑critical issues, driving root cause elimination and long‑term corrective actions.
  • Drive enterprise adoption of standardized processes and solutions, reducing plant‑specific customization where possible.
  • Champion modernization initiatives leveraging automation, analytics, AI/ML, and data quality improvements to enhance manufacturing outcomes.
  • Translate complex business requirements into clear solution direction and executable scopes for supplier delivery.
  • Oversee delivery execution, ensuring alignment to schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Provide concise, executive‑level status, risk, and decision updates to ICT and business leadership.
  • Provide oversight of strategic suppliers, ensuring adherence to SLAs, cybersecurity requirements, and quality standards.
