About The Position

AECOM’s Technology Solutions Group is seeking a mid-level Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) Consultant for its ICT Data Center Team. This is a remote position open to candidates across the United States, with a hybrid option for candidates near an AECOM office. The consultant will develop or apply an understanding of data center clients’ business practices and goals, and work collaboratively with ICT designers and BIM specialists to produce constructible design documents on schedule. The role applies broad technical knowledge, including an area of specialization, to complex data center ICT infrastructure assignments. Work includes survey, design, development, and construction administration, as well as consulting for hyper-scale and enterprise data centers, structured cabling systems, campus and wide area networks, passive optical networks, and outside plant. The consultant performs specific or limited design and consulting duties within larger data center design teams, gathers and correlates engineering data, develops solutions to project problems, and completes work to agreed budgets and schedules with minimal supervision. The role also provides guidance to internal mid-level consultants and production staff. The position requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency. Relocation and sponsorship are not available. Newly hired employees must attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office. AECOM intends to fill this current vacancy by February 1, 2027.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus six years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Data center design experience with ICT infrastructure.
Current BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification.
U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency (Green Card).
Strong communication, follow-through, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Three years of hyper-scale data center design experience with ICT infrastructure.
Experience or proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Visio Professional, Bluebeam Extreme (Revu), Microsoft Project, Microsoft 365 Suite, and other ICT-specific programs.
Experience or proficiency with codes, standards, and regulations including permitting, state and local ordinances, IEEE C2 (National Electrical Safety Code), OSHA 1910 standards, TIA cabling and data center standards, and BICSI TDMM and other manuals.
Other active BICSI certifications; BICSI DCDC certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

Work with ICT designers and BIM specialists to produce quality, constructible data center design documents on schedule.
Develop solutions to data center client problems on assigned projects.
Apply in-depth knowledge of data center ICT infrastructure to survey, design, development, and construction administration assignments.
Perform ICT design and consulting for hyper-scale and enterprise data centers, structured cabling systems, campus and wide area networks, passive optical networks, and outside plant.
Perform specific or limited ICT design and consulting duties as part of a larger data center design team.
Gather and correlate engineering data using established procedures.
Complete detailed or routine design and consulting assignments and propose solutions to new or complex problems.
Provide guidance and direction to internal mid-level consultants and production staff.
Perform work in accordance with agreed-upon budgets and schedules with minimal supervision.
