About The Position

The Ice Helper serves as an integral part of the Warehouse team to support the Ice Driver in a busy retail/c-store environment. The Ice Helper assists the Ice Driver by handling and delivering bagged ice to Toot’n Totum convenience stores on an assigned route schedule while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This position must be safety-conscious, comfortable driving a delivery vehicle and working in cold environments.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to stand at least 8 hours constantly, walk, sit, talk/hear, push/pull, climb, bend/stoop, crouch/kneel/crawl, taste/smell, balance, twist/reach, carry, grasp with hands, squat, and drive.
  • Lift/pull up to 60 lbs. daily.
  • Ability to hear alarms, communication equipment, verbal instructions, machinery & area specific items such as forklift and pallet jack.
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills.
  • Basic speech skills; must be able to speak, read, write & understand the English language, memorization, analytical skills, function under stress & make independent decisions.
  • General vision requirements in addition to close vision (<20 inches), Distance Vision (>20 feet), color vision and peripheral vision.
  • Normal (<85dB) noise levels and/or Loud (>85dB) noise levels.
  • Regularly & repetitively use both feet and both hands.
  • General working conditions include wet/humid/steam conditions not created by weather, working with mechanical parts and machinery including machinery that contains moving parts, toxic/caustic chemicals, concentrated soaps & cleaning solutions, asbestos exposure, outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat/cold, confined areas, electrical equipment, vibration, possible flying debris, flashing/strobing lighting and work around vehicles in motion.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in loading and delivering ice to Company sites in a safe and timely manner.
  • Pull orders and build outbound loads for daily route assignments and schedules.
  • Responsible for product rotation at the store level to ensure product freshness.
  • Assist with in-bound freight as necessary.
  • Work with other team members to balance daily tasks.
  • Provide excellent Guest service during delivery interactions.
  • Verify delivery information and obtain customer signatures when necessary.
  • Handle goods with care to prevent damage or loss.
  • Operate electrical pallet jack and 2-wheeler.
  • Support and facilitate organizational changes, continuous improvement and communication.
