About The Position

Lake Forest Academy seeks part time and/or full time rink technicians who maintain the ice rink operation by supervising the facility, and completing ongoing maintenance of the ice rink. The technician is responsible for operation of the Zamboni, as well as ice arena and facility custodial needs and reports to the Rink Manager. Candidates must have a valid drivers license and possess strong customer service skills. Weeknights and/or weekend shifts are available and expected.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and valid drivers license
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule - Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays
  • Strong customer service skills and experience working with a variety of constituents
  • Ability to exercise good judgment
  • General computer knowledge, including Microsoft and Google platforms
  • A willingness to collaborate in a team environment
  • Supports and acts in accordance with LFA’s mission and values

Responsibilities

  • Performs light maintenance service under the auspices of a qualified skilled tradesperson, including plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine servicing, electrical repairs or installations, or vehicle servicing.
  • Performs tasks such as but not limited to changing light bulbs, installing paper dispenser units, changing filters, changing locks on doors, minor decorative maintenance and other tasks not requiring a licensed skilled trades person or journeyman.
  • Operates the Zamboni Ice Resurfacer
  • Facilitates the daily ice schedule
  • Assist and monitor ice rental groups
  • Helps to maintain rink cleanliness
  • Identifies and corrects unsafe working conditions with management oversight
  • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated
  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures
  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments
  • Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures
  • May perform snow removal and other grounds keeping activities
  • May be required to assist with special events.
  • May drive a cart or other vehicle.
  • Assists skilled trade workers in one or more areas performing specific or standard duties to learn new skills as required for advancement and certification.
  • May be required to utilize basic cleaning and other chemicals.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
