About The Position

The Seasonal Ice Rink Attendant is responsible for creating a safe, clean, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for visitors at the Fire and Ice Depot District. This position performs a variety of customer service and facility operations duties, including admission, skate rental, concession operations, cleaning, safety monitoring, and general rink support. Employees may rotate between assigned duties based on staffing levels, visitor needs, and facility operations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 17 years old.
  • Ability to learn and operate a point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain alert, responsible, and friendly in an outdoor, fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts. Hours will vary.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Responsibilities

  • Provide information on amenities, policies, and emergency procedures.
  • Perform daily cleaning duties including trash removal, restroom maintenance, and general facility upkeep.
  • Monitor public skating areas, warming areas, restrooms, concessions, and surrounding facility grounds.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining rink equipment such as chairs, signage, and rink safety barriers.
  • Support special events, programs, and recreational activities hosted by City of Howell.
  • Operate the admission, skate rental, and concession areas as assigned based on facility operations and staffing needs.
  • Collect admission and skate rental fees in accordance with established City rates and procedures.
  • Verify admission passes, tickets and residency when applicable.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system and process credit/debit transactions.
  • Assist visitors with skate rentals, including fitting skates and assisting with proper sizing.
  • Inspect returned skates and equipment for damage or maintenance needs.
  • Clean, sanitize, organize, and properly store rental skates and equipment.
  • Prepare and serve snacks and beverages in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the admission, skate rental, and concession area.
  • Monitor inventory of concession products and rental equipment and report shortages or issues to the supervisor.
  • Follow all applicable health, safety, and sanitation requirements.
  • Rotate between admission, skate rental, and concession responsibilities as directed by the supervisor and as staffing and facility needs require.
  • Support basic snow removal needs such as shoveling and debris removal.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures for the rink.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
