Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of closed-loop refrigeration systems, encompassing thermal dynamics, electrical, and mechanical aspects.
  • HAZMAT competencies for emergency response pertaining to ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Knowledge and application of technical skills and expertise in mechanical systems.
  • Ability to perform electrical skills and diagnostic tasks, including removing and replacing major electrical components and troubleshooting electrical circuits safely.
  • Ability to establish power distribution systems and electrical control circuits.
  • Ability to install electrical drive systems and control loops.
  • Instrumentation and control skills, including understanding the internal architecture of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Proficiency with maintenance shop tools.
  • Knowledge, skills, and proficiency with maintenance shop tools.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite applications, with strong emphasis on Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work with and lead teams comprised of all personnel levels.
  • Ability to comprehend machine manuals and drawings with a clear interpretation of their meaning.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of plant personnel.
  • Good general shop knowledge.
  • Proficient knowledge of parts and materials as well as their nomenclature.
  • Good math skills.
  • Ability to compose reports to effectively communicate results/conclusions.
  • Must be well organized utilizing sound 5S principles.

  • Extended education/training/experience with a closed loop refrigeration system.

  • Experience of working as part of an extended team within the manufacturing sector.

  • Experience of manufacturing in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Company and World Class Manufacturing.
  • Experience as a team member within a project Management team with an awareness of project management tools and techniques.
  • Good knowledge of electrical systems, mechanics, hydraulics, facilities, pneumatics and related components.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure maximum availability for the production plant by utilizing excellent technical skills for improvements, modifications, and maintenance of closed-loop refrigeration systems.
  • Operate and maintain all equipment associated with the Engineering Department, focusing on Ammonia Refrigeration systems, Steam Generating systems, compressed air systems, and facility electrical distribution systems.
  • Contribute to the delivery of operational KPIs including Productivity, Quality, Safety, Health and Environment, Cost, and Delivery.
  • Maximize machinery operations while minimizing equipment downtime through advanced problem-solving.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and utilize Condition Based Monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex ammonia equipment problems, including thermal dynamics, electrical, and mechanical aspects.
  • Respond to HAZMAT emergencies pertaining to ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, including removing and replacing major electrical components and safely troubleshooting electrical circuits.
  • Establish power distribution systems and electrical control circuits, and install electrical drive systems and control loops.
  • Manage PLC and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Networks, including program modifications, device forcing, and fault finding.
  • Utilize appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products, and equipment.
  • Reduce costs due to waste and minimize environmental impact by eliminating waste and correctly managing waste and hazardous materials.
  • Ensure all aspects of Quality are in accordance with local Quality procedures.
  • Promote the development of a highly effective team through strong communication and leading by example.
  • Use performance measures to identify and prioritize losses and apply Cost Deployment and the Zero Loss concept.
  • Identify, prioritize, and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques to eliminate recurrence.
  • Achieve project outcomes in line with agreed plans using project management tools and techniques.
  • Understand the need to meet changing demands and the role of marketing and product innovation in growing the business.
