Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in Exercise Science or a related field and 2 years of full time coaching or internship experience.
  • CSCS certification through National Strength and Conditioning Association or SCCC through the CSCCA.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree.
  • 1 year of coaching or internship experience at the NCAA level.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assist with Olympic Sports programs and the day-to-day operation of the performance training facility as required by the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports.
  • Teach proper execution, techniques and safety for all lifts and movement drills.
  • This position will prioritize teaching and coaching sessions in the weight room for assigned teams and will work with teams on the field or court as schedules permit.
  • Effectively motivate athletes to achieve the maximum potential in all areas of performance.
  • Communicate and work in partnership with athletic trainers, mental health providers and sports dieticians to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the overall health wellbeing and student athlete experience.
  • Implement and enforce all ICA rules, policies and procedures with regard to the Strength and Conditioning department.
  • Must be flexible to work irregular hours.
  • Must effectively work, write, speak, present, and communicate with staff, administrators and other coaches in the athletic department.
  • Travel with assigned teams may occur as directed by the Director of Strength and Conditioning and may include international travel with assigned teams.
  • Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington, and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University.
  • The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations.
  • As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
