About The Position

ENVENTION has an immediate need for several mid-level software engineers with strong Java and C2 algorithms experience to join our team supporting the air defense planning and execution capabilities of the cutting-edge Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS). This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a transformative air defense system that integrates advanced technologies to protect against modern threats. You’ll work on complex software challenges, collaborate across disciplines, and help develop solutions that shape the future of Army Air Defense. This position isn’t just about writing code; it’s about ensuring mission-critical Command and Control (C2) engagement planning and execution systems operate with speed, precision, and operational dominance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum of 5+ years (3 years with a Master’s degree) of software engineering experience developing enterprise or tactical applications in Java.
Solid background developing software on Linux platforms.
Hands-on experience with algorithm design and software implementation for complex decision-making systems.
Experience working in Agile (SCRUM or SAFe) environments using Atlassian tools (Jira/Confluence).
Must be available to work full-time onsite in Huntsville, AL.
Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

9+ years (7 years with a Master’s degree) of software engineering experience.
Experience with Command and Control (C2) engagement planning and execution logic in Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) systems.
Practical experience implementing DevSecOps pipelines and automated unit/integration testing frameworks.
Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develop Core C2 Algorithms: Design, implement, and optimize complex Java-based algorithms supporting air defense engagement planning and execution functions.
Build for Tactical Linux: Write, test, and deploy high-reliability software within Linux enterprise and tactical environments.
Drive Agile & SAFe Delivery: Actively participate in Agile SCRUM and SAFe release trains, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and team retrospectives.
Integrate DevSecOps Practices: Incorporate continuous integration, automated testing, and security principles into the daily software development lifecycle.
Leverage Atlassian Tooling: Utilize tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket to maintain traceability, manage user stories, and collaborate across teams.
Support System Integration: Partner with software testers, systems engineers, and domain experts to integrate engagement planning modules into total system solutions.
