About The Position

ENVENTION has an immediate need for a mid-level DevOps and System Administration Engineer to join our team supporting development and deployment infrastructure for the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS). This role offers the opportunity to build, automate, and manage the underlying platform environments that power transformative air defense software. You’ll tackle complex infrastructure challenges across physical, virtual, and cloud environments, collaborating closely with software and test teams to shape the future of Army Air Defense. This position isn’t just about keeping servers running; it’s about building automated, robust CI/CD ecosystems that empower developers to deliver mission-critical defense capabilities rapidly and reliably.

Requirements

Proven ability to design and manage CI/CD pipelines with modern orchestration and automation tools.
Deep understanding of Linux/Windows system administration, networking, and environment configuration.
Hands-on experience managing physical laboratory hardware, hypervisors (virtual environments), and cloud infrastructure.
Passion for eliminating manual operational tasks through scripting (Python, Bash, Shell) and IaC tools.
Excellent diagnostic skills for resolving complex environment, build network, and deployment configuration issues.
Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum of 5+ years (3 years with a Master’s degree) of experience in DevOps, System Administration, or Platform Engineering.
Demonstrated experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation systems.
Practical system administration experience across physical, virtualized (e.g., VMware/KVM), or cloud-based platforms.
Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
Must be available to work full-time onsite in Huntsville, AL.
Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

9+ years (7 years with a Master’s degree) of combined DevOps and platform system administration experience.
Experience implementing containerization and orchestration frameworks (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience configuring and maintaining software development environments for DoD or IAMD programs in compliance with security guidelines.
Familiarity with Atlassian tool integrations (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence) within CI/CD automation pipelines.
Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline software builds, automated testing, and deployment workflows.
Provide continuous administration, configuration, and monitoring across physical, virtualized, and cloud-based development environments.
Utilize Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and configuration management tools to automate environment provisioning and continuous system maintenance.
Support software development teams across heterogeneous hardware environments, including bare-metal physical servers, virtual machines, and cloud environments.
Identify process bottlenecks, improve build times, and integrate automated code quality and security tools into the developer pipeline.
Work alongside software engineers, systems engineers, and testers to deliver stable, repeatable environments for continuous integration.
