About The Position

Supports projects, installation, and maintenance of facility instrumentation and electrical components to ensure a safe, comfortable, operating environment. This role involves identifying current and future Instrumentation/Controls requirements, directing and supervising contractors, assisting in employee training, ensuring equipment operates properly by determining work priorities and scheduling repairs, and supporting product development and improvement. The technician will support and maintain Electronic, Mechanical, and Pneumatic instrumentation, support Operations and Maintenance departments, troubleshoot analyzers, perform calibrations, maintain and troubleshoot DCS/PLC systems, utilize trends to diagnose operational issues, respond to power outages, and run conduit and tubing as needed. The role also requires adherence to company values, vision, and mission, and maintaining a work schedule and attendance standards.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years minimum experience required in plant electrical/instrumentation maintenance.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to accurately solve problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, and the public.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies current and future Instrumentation/Controls requirements by establishing a rapport with management, engineering, production personnel, technicians, and other persons in a position to understand controls requirements.
  • Directs and supervises contractors as needed to complete assignments that are more than a one-man job.
  • Assists in the training of employees on how to perform the duties of maintenance, construction, and repair of instruments/analyzers and electrical equipment.
  • Ensures equipment is operating properly by determining work priorities and scheduling repair, maintenance, and installation of controls equipment.
  • Supports product development and improvement by reviewing new product plans, discussing equipment needs and modifications, coordinating activities with other facility crafts.
  • Supports and maintains Electronic, Mechanical, and Pneumatic instrumentation of various types and manufacturers.
  • Support Operations and Maintenance departments as needed.
  • Working knowledge of analyzers and ability to troubleshoot
  • Calibrations of pressure, level, flow, and temperature transmitters and switches.
  • DCS/PLC Maintenance and Troubleshooting.
  • Utilize trends to diagnose/troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Ability to respond to power outages.
  • Knowledge and ability to run conduit and tubing as needed.

  • Maintain low and medium voltage equipment
  • Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
