About The Position

The primary responsibilities of the Company’s Instrumentation & Electrical Designer shall include facilitating project design and drafting management in accordance with industry and company standards to ensure the successful completion of all project-related activities. This role involves detailed tasks such as assigning electrical equipment and instrument tagging numbers, assigning conduit and cable numbers, resolving drawing development issues, and drafting changes to record drawings. The position requires preparation of process flow diagrams (PFD), piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID), general equipment layouts, facility plot plans, and equipment and instrument lists for various plant, pipeline, and related facilities construction projects. The designer will also assist in the development of Project Scopes, Engineering / Design Scopes, and Construction Scopes of Work, attend project meetings, review man-hour estimates and work schedules, coordinate the distribution of design packages, and provide design and drafting services for time/budget critical and preliminary projects. Communication with vendors for quotes and material availability, creating parts lists through material take-offs, developing material data sheets, and generating material requisitions are also key functions. The role includes maintaining a record of technical design documents, participating in the development of standard drawings, maintaining a high level of expertise, and assisting in the development and implementation of specifications and procedures. Coordination with Project Managers, purchasing agents, inspectors, engineering contractors, and construction contractors, as well as CADD Operators, is essential. The designer will provide guidance to enhance others' ability to obtain information and must be willing to travel.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate project design and drafting management in accordance with industry and company STD’s.
• Assign electrical equipment and instrument tagging numbers.
• Assign conduit and cable numbers.
• Resolve drawing development issues.
• Draft changes to record drawings.
• Prepare process flow diagrams (PFD), piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID), general equipment layouts, facility plot plans, and equipment and instrument lists.
• Assist in the development of Project Scopes, Engineering / Design Scopes, and Construction Scopes of Work.
• Attend project meetings to obtain full understanding of customer needs and scope definitions, and to provide technical input.
• Assist in the review of man hour estimates and work schedules.
• Assist in coordinating the distribution of design packages.
• Provide design and drafting services for time / budget critical projects.
• Provide design and drafting services associated with the preliminary development of potential projects.
• Communicate with vendors for materials quotes and availability of materials.
• Create parts lists by performing material take-offs.
• Development of material data sheets.
• Generate material requisitions for submittal to project manager for approvals.
• Maintain record of documents and correspondence pertaining to technical design issues.
• Participate in the development and maintenance of Company standard drawings.
• Maintain a high level of expertise in necessary areas of design and drafting.
• Assist in the development and implementation of specifications and procedures related to the handling of department business.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, purchasing agents, inspectors, engineering contractors, and construction contractors relating to design drawing content, materials and construction issues.
• Coordinate with Project Managers and Engineering on design and project logistical issues.
• Provide the drafting associated with daily operation of the system along with coordinating with CADD Operator.
• Provide guidance so to enhance the ability of others to obtain required information through the use of departmentally developed tools and methods.
• Travel by air and/or automobile to facility sites as required.
