About The Position

Generally responsible for performing all aspects for complete design of complex electrical and instrumentation assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This level requires extensive progressive experience in electrical and instrumentation design and involves applying advanced design techniques and analysis. This position requires some supervision of less experienced personnel. This work will be performed under general supervision.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.
  • Proficient with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Able to perform technical calculations for conduit & cable tray sizes, lighting & power transformers, panel and switchgear sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop, and motor protection.
  • Knowledge of electrical power systems (low and medium voltage)
  • Knowledge of industrial instrumentation, including sensors, switches, transducers, transmitters, and control valves.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical problem-solving abilities, and effective communication for team coordination

Responsibilities

  • Create electrical and instrumentation deliverables using CAD software.
  • Typical deliverables include creating or modifying single-line diagrams, schematics, loop diagrams, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), control panels, grounding detail drawings, cable tray routing, heat tracing details/circuits and equipment locations (Plot Plans) in industrial or manufacturing facilities.
  • Collaborate with other designer crafts to ensure electrical and instrumentation will be installed with minimum impact to civil or mechanical applications.
  • Prepare bills of materials (BOMs), cable schedules, device and component lists, and scopes of work.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, process, and structural teams & engineers, as well as contractors and field electricians, to ensure design package meets project requirement and customer expectation.
  • Ensure designs comply with regulatory and safety standards, such as the National Electrical Code (NFPA-70), IEEE, ISA, OSHA, and company standards & policies.
