About The Position

The Hyperbaric Technician (HBO Tech) role at Texas Health Arlington Memorial involves ensuring safe hyperbaric chamber operations, performing system maintenance and cleaning, and identifying equipment malfunctions. The position also includes providing direct patient care inside the chamber, monitoring patients, assisting physicians and nurses, and handling patient care records. The technician will adhere to National Patient Safety Goals and maintain professional accountability through participation in hospital initiatives, attending staff meetings, and completing mandatory training. This role requires maintaining licensure and certifications, and fostering professional growth and development.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Other technical training and/or science program to produce appropriate licensure required.
  • Year clinical experience (preferably EMT) required.
  • Other Registered and/or licensed in the State of Texas as a RT, LVN, LPN, CHT, PT, or EMT. Upon Hire Required
  • Other Complete an approved NBDHMT introductory hyperbaric training course within 45 days of entry into the position. 45 Days required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree science related field preferred
  • 6 Months hyperbaric diving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures safe chamber operations.
  • Perform hyperbaric chamber operations and system maintenance/cleaning as required.
  • Identifies equipment malfunctions.
  • Acts as inside attendant if needed based on chamber design.
  • Provides necessary patient care inside chamber.
  • Monitors patients inside chamber.
  • Assists physicians and nurses.
  • Provides pre-treatment patient care.
  • Handles patient care records.
  • Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals
  • Actively participates in hospital initiatives or committees as appropriate.
  • Attends 75% of department staff meetings and town halls.
  • Adheres to system, hospital, and department policies and procedures.
  • Completes mandatory training by established deadline.
  • Completes employee health requirements by established deadline.
  • Maintains licensure, certification, and/or registry as required.
  • Recognizes and communicates ethical and legal concerns through established channels of communication.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Performs other work as requested that is reasonably related to the employee's position, qualifications, and competencies.
