Hygienist Monday to Friday

COAST DENTAL•Conyers, GA

About The Position

Registered Dental Hygienists provide licensed dental hygiene services and work with a dentist to deliver hygiene, periodontal, and dental care. The role includes assessing patients’ oral health, developing periodontal treatment plans based on a dentist’s diagnosis, providing appropriate standard-of-care therapy, and educating patients about oral and overall health. The hygienist performs preventive and periodontal procedures, takes dental and carpal radiographs, carries out in-office whitening, and recommends follow-up and re-care intervals. Duties are limited to those allowed under applicable state laws and regulations. For a Florida position, a Level 2 background screening through the Agency for Health Care Administration is required; an Onboarding Specialist can coordinate it if the applicant does not already have an active screening.

  • Immediately alert the dentist to suspected lesions in the mouth or on the teeth.
  • Remove soft and hard deposits and extrinsic stains using hand instruments, ultrasonic cavitron inserts, and prophy handpieces.
  • Instruct patients on oral hygiene practices, recommend home-care products or devices, and provide other health care education as necessary.
  • Perform prophylaxis when periodontal disease or gingivitis is absent.
  • Perform full-mouth debridement as an initial stage of gingivitis therapy or to remove calculus that interferes with diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Perform scaling and root planing as periodontal therapy.
  • Place locally administered antibiotics as supportive periodontal therapy.
  • Perform irrigation and desensitizing procedures or use products as adjuncts to periodontal therapy.
  • Position and expose dental and carpal radiographic film and sensors.
  • Perform in-office whitening procedures, including applying and curing gel and making subsequent applications.
  • Apply cavity-preventive agents such as fluoride and pit-and-fissure sealants.
  • Recommend patient re-care intervals and follow-up needs.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and allowed under applicable state laws and regulations.
