About The Position

Lane & Associates Family Dentistry is hiring a Hygiene Assistant in Apex to support hygienists with patient-related clerical duties, clinical tasks, and accurate charting. The role helps hygienists work efficiently and provide exceptional patient care. Patient interaction may vary depending on the hygienist’s needs, with the Hygiene Assistant expected to contribute actively, build knowledge, and enhance the patient experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid North Carolina X-ray Certification.
DAI Certification is required.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Computer proficiency.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Ability to lift 15–20 lbs.

Responsibilities

Ensure treatment rooms are stocked, disinfected, and set up for appointments.
Greet patients and introduce the Hygiene Assistant’s role.
Update medical histories and obtain blood pressure as requested by the hygienist.
Chart and document procedures performed and note recommended next treatments.
Collaborate with clinical staff to keep the lab and treatment rooms clean and organized.
Document patient conditions, medical and dental histories, procedures, and comments.
Expose digital radiographs.
Reinforce hygienist-recommended treatments and home-care instructions.
Assist with managing the office recall system.
Control inventory in hygiene rooms and sterilize instruments.
Participate in shared maintenance duties.
Perform routine tasks independently.
Help monitor the schedule and confirm appointments as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
