About The Position

This is a revolving application for a Hydrovac Operator or CDL driver (Side Dumps, other CDL Required Vehicles) role, supporting a wide variety of day-to-day operations. Job duties will vary considerably due to the diverse nature of this position. Compensation will vary depending on the project, location, and experience of the individual, and will be evaluated by the hiring supervisor at the time of hire. The application deadline is ongoing, and applications are reviewed weekly. Minor delays in response time may occur.

Requirements

  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Must be able to come to work promptly, regularly, and on-time.
  • Able to follow instruction and carry out duties while unsupervised.
  • Work proficiently with tools and equipment.
  • Willing to work well with others and maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Capable of openly communicating ideas and problems.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at frequent intervals, 100 pounds at regular intervals, and heavier weights in team situations with proper technique to prevent injury.
  • Must be able to quickly and safely move across a work site, typically loose ground or uneven terrain.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, crawl, stretch, lay, squat in order to maintain equipment or make appropriate adjustments for tasks in the field.
  • Possess the manual dexterity to perform detail work at regular intervals.
  • Possess the visual acuity to complete detailed tasks at regular intervals.

Nice To Haves

  • Competency and ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment and/or the specific equipment the individual is being hired to operate, including Trackhoe, Dozer, motor grader, Scraper and other specialized equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely in potentially hazardous environments.
  • Operate high pressure power washing equipment.
  • Offer labor support to crews when equipment operating is not the primary task at hand.
  • Lift/Carry heavy objects up to 50#.
  • Proficiently use hand and power tools.
  • General construction and excavation skills.
  • Operate various pieces of heavy equipment including earth moving equipment (Skidsteer, compaction equipment, loaders), forklifts or powered industrial trucks, aerial lifts and platforms, hydrovacs, CDL required transport (i.e. Side Dumps, Dump Truck, Etc.), and specialized equipment.
  • Perform general maintenance and inspections of the equipment they will be operating.
  • Comprehend project plans and documents.
  • Layout excavation construction zones.
  • Participate in daily JSA meetings.
  • Complete daily equipment or vehicle inspections.
  • Safely climb in and out of elevated equipment.
  • Assist in daily inspection of safety equipment.
  • Operate all functions of a hydrovac independently.
  • Perform basic maintenance functions on the equipment they are assigned to operate.
  • Lead a crew effectively and safely in the absence of the direct supervisor (for Operator or CDL driver 2).
  • Mentor and train other operators on skill sets of various advanced equipment (for Operator or CDL driver 2).
  • Operate a lowboy trailer, gooseneck trailer or side dump (for Operator or CDL driver 2).
  • Make safety-conscious decisions when working on a daily basis.
  • Exhibit exceptional professionalism with customers and peers at all times.
  • Perform competent DOT OQ tasks and complete competent DOT OQ testing for qualifications (for Operator or CDL driver 2).
