About The Position

Puget Sound Energy's Generation & Natural Gas Storage team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Hydro Mechanic position. Specific details regarding the work arrangements for this position will be discussed in further detail during the interview process. Safety is the number one priority for Puget Sound Energy. This position requires participation in safety and tailgate meetings, performing safety inspections, identification and reporting of safety incidents and unsafe conditions, obtaining and maintaining required licenses and certifications and participation in emergency response drills. Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations. This job is under federal regulation by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and is subject to pre-employment and random drug screenings that include screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have completed a recognized hydro-electric mechanic apprenticeship program or its equivalent and be proficient in using the tools and equipment of the trade as related to hydro-electric work.
  • Must have ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have and maintain a First Aid/CPR and AED Certificate or obtain each within one (1) year.
  • Must have and maintain a current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL A) with air and other necessary endorsements or obtain one within one (1) year.
  • Employees must have a working knowledge and comply with all Company standards, policies, practices, procedures and State and Federal regulations as they pertain to the job.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, install, inspect, operate and maintain generation plant mechanical and associated electrical equipment, especially as it applies to hydro-electric generation facilities.
  • Drive and operate equipment. Perform similar and incidental duties as required.
  • This position responds to plant emergencies and contains some irregular work schedules and overtime hours.
