About The Position
Mustang Cat is hiring a Component Shop Heavy Equipment Technician specializing in hydraulic systems at its new Hempstead, Texas location. The role focuses on precision repair and service of Caterpillar hydraulic components, including pumps, motors, and control valves, to maintain equipment performance. The technician disassembles, inspects, reassembles, and tests hydraulic components; conducts failure analysis; uses hydraulic schematics and diagnostic equipment; and records work in Caterpillar software systems. Repairs must meet Caterpillar safety and performance standards. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proven hydraulic systems experience.
- Proficiency with Caterpillar systems SIS 2.0, Salesforce, and PowerTest.
- Experience with electrical systems and hydraulic diagnostics.
- Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Ability to perform detailed disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of hydraulic components.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to read hydraulic schematics.
- Teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble, inspect, reassemble, and test hydraulic pumps and motors, including fixed- and variable-displacement, gear, and piston types.
- Service hydraulic control valves, including electrical components.
- Conduct failure analysis and prepare detailed reports.
- Read, interpret, and apply Caterpillar hydraulic schematics.
- Connect and disconnect pressure gauges and interpret their readings for diagnostics.
- Work with open- and closed-loop hydrostatic systems.
- Use forklifts and overhead cranes to handle components safely.
- Maintain accurate records in Caterpillar software systems, including SIS 2.0, Salesforce, and PowerTest.
- Ensure repairs meet Caterpillar safety and performance standards.
