Now Hiring: Component Shop Heavy Equipment Technician – Hydraulic Specialist (Hempstead, TX) (Heavy Equipment Technician | Hydraulic Systems Mechanic | Caterpillar Component Shop Technician | Hydraulic Pump & Motor Repair) Mustang Cat, the authorized Caterpillar dealer for Southeast Texas, is actively hiring a Component Shop Heavy Equipment Technician – Hydraulic Focused for our Hempstead, Texas location. In this role, you’ll specialize in hydraulic systems, performing precision work on pumps, motors, and control valves to keep Caterpillar equipment performing at its best. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven hydraulic system experience
- Proficiency with Caterpillar systems: SIS 2.0, Salesforce, and PowerTest
- Experience with electrical systems and hydraulic diagnostics
- Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes
- Ability to perform detailed disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of hydraulic components
- Strong attention to detail and ability to read hydraulic schematics
- Team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Disassemble, inspect, reassemble, and test hydraulic pumps and motors, including fixed/variable displacement, gear, and piston types
- Service hydraulic control valves, including electrical components
- Conduct failure analysis and prepare detailed reports
- Read, interpret, and apply Caterpillar hydraulic schematics
- Connect, disconnect, and interpret pressure gauges for diagnostic accuracy
- Work with open- and closed-loop hydrostatic systems
- Use forklifts and overhead cranes to safely handle components
- Maintain accurate records in Caterpillar software systems (SIS 2.0, Salesforce, PowerTest)
- Ensure all repairs meet Caterpillar standards for safety and performance
