About The Position

HDR is hiring a Hydraulic Modeling and Planning EIT/Coordinator for its Water Business Group. The role contributes to water and water-resources planning and engineering projects, supporting public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience. The position works under the instruction of a Project Engineer or person in responsible charge and collaborates with clients and project teams to deliver water-focused systems and services. It may participate in local and regional utility-planning projects. The role includes preparing planning-level, preliminary, and detailed designs; creating technical deliverables, specifications, analyses, models, reports, and master plans; conducting quality-control reviews; and applying engineering and modeling methods to drinking-water projects for federal, state, and local municipalities. Work also includes water and wastewater hydraulic modeling, data analysis, field-data collection and model calibration, asset and risk management, condition assessment, and preparation of plans and specifications for treatment facilities, distribution piping, collection systems, and related infrastructure. Candidates without an EIT certificate may be placed in a Design Coordinator job code and are expected to obtain the EIT for career progression.

  • Prepare deliverables for water and water-resources systems, including specifications, analyses, models, and study-level reports; determine design methods and possible equipment sizing and selection; and work directly with clients.
  • Participate in quality assurance and conduct quality-control reviews of completed deliverables.
  • Support project engineers in applying design engineering and modeling techniques to drinking-water projects for federal, state, and local municipalities.
  • Perform hydraulic modeling of water and wastewater systems.
  • Develop hydraulic models using GIS data and as-built drawings.
  • Collect and assess field data for hydraulic model calibration.
  • Analyze flow, demand, population, water quality, and facilities-condition data.
  • Perform hydraulic analyses using relevant software programs.
  • Conduct technical research into product information, design codes, and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare technical reports and master plans, including text, tables, and figures.
  • Perform asset management, risk management, and risk modeling tasks.
