About The Position

Hy-Vee is hiring a Hy-Chi Department Clerk to provide customer service and support food preparation and department operations. The clerk fills customer orders, prepares and replenishes products, helps ensure food is fresh and meets quality standards, and keeps the work area clean, organized, and safe. The role involves a fast-paced food service environment and requires night and weekend shifts. Training is provided.

Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with attention to detail.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear communication with customers and co-workers and the ability to contribute positively to a team.
Ability to learn and apply sanitation, food safety, and department procedures.
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Up to six months of similar or related experience; training is provided.
Night and weekend shifts are required.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, take orders at the Hy-Chi counter, and assist customers with their needs throughout the store.
Review daily orders and develop or follow a production list to ensure adequate food supplies are ready.
Prepare, finish, and replenish products, including pulling items from the cooler or freezer for cooking.
Check food freshness, appearance, and quality throughout the shift.
Receive and put away products and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register, accept payments, and make change as applicable.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe.
Remove trash promptly and wash dishes as needed.
Order products and supplies and price products as needed.
Answer calls promptly and help callers, including taking customer orders.
Follow the company dress code, hygiene standards, and department and company guidelines.
Assist with other tasks and special projects as needed.
