About The Position

The Hardware in the Loop (HWIL) Department in Tucson, AZ is a multi-discipline organization responsible for designing, building and integrating state of the art testing environments (flight simulators for missiles), as the last step before flight test. On this team, you will work with weapon system designers to understand requirements, design solutions, integrate, and deploy the systems to help support tactical software development, testing, and delivery for missiles to the warfighter. Raytheon is seeking a Hardware in the Loop (HWIL) Section Leader. The candidate should have experience leading multi-disciplined engineers, writing proposals, managing Earned Value (EV) and managing customer scheduling/priority conflicts. The IPTL will have the responsibility to maintain the operation of SIMFAX which utilizes multiple shifts. The role also will require the individual to have experience of troubleshooting and be on call if the lab were to go down. The IPTL should have experience with proposals as the Program continues to see growth. In addition to IPTL responsibilities, the candidate should have experience with functional leadership. The Section Lead (SL) portion of the role will require the candidate to hold career development and performance development discussions with the staff. The SL will be required to report metrics to the Department Lead. The SL will also be required to balance the Program responsibilities with numerous functional requirements throughout the year.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience (EE, SW, or CS preferred)
  • Experience leading multi-disciplined engineering teams
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong hardware, or software development skills
  • Active and transferrable US government issued Secret security clearance (not interim) is required prior to start date.
  • US citizenship is required, as only US citizens are eligible for security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience serving as an IPTL, developing large test environments
  • Strong organization, coordination, planning and teaming skills.
  • Knowledge of or experience with equipment rack assembly, cable assembly/installation, electronics maintenance, data acquisition systems, oscilloscopes, bus analyzers, logic analyzers, network analyzers, and/or spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience troubleshooting systems using test equipment such as data acquisition systems, oscilloscopes, bus analyzers, logic analyzers, network analyzers, and/or spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience with Agile Process.
  • Experience with gate reviews.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
