About The Position

The HWIL Electrical Design & Integration Engineer (E4) provides senior level technical leadership for the end to end electrical architecture, integration, and verification of real time, closed loop Hardware in the Loop (HWIL) capabilities. With 5 + years of relevant experience, the incumbent operates with technical authority, defines strategy, and influences program wide decisions while representing Lockheed Martin to senior government and industry stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5 + years in electrical design, HWIL integration, or comparable high fidelity test bed environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field.
  • Active Secret clearance (interim required at start).
  • Advanced knowledge of digital, analog, and RF circuit design; extensive experience with cable harness engineering, signal integrity, and EMI/EMC mitigation.
  • Proven experience with cable design and integration of complex electrical subsystems.
  • Strong hands‑on skills with lab equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, EMI test gear).
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, influence senior stakeholders, and produce clear technical documentation and presentations.
  • Must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional technical training or certifications in HWIL, RF design, or advanced simulation is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading HWIL programs or large scale electrical integration efforts.
  • Experience with flight software integration, real time operating systems, and high performance computing applied to HWIL.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and Lockheed Martin best practices for HWIL electrical design.
  • Experience coordinating with government customers for test support.
  • Advanced certifications or training in RF design, high speed digital, or systems engineering.
  • Advanced training in real‑time operating systems, FPGA‑based simulation, or high‑performance computing applied to HWIL.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the electrical architecture for HWIL test beds, establishing standards for cable harnesses, PCBs, high speed signaling, and RF target generation simulators.
  • Lead the integration of next generation real time closed loop simulation models.
  • Serve as a lead HWIL electrical engineer coordinating with cross functional teams (Systems, Software, Mechanical, Integration & Test).
  • Present technical status, risk assessments, and roadmap recommendations to senior leadership and customer senior officials.
  • Influence budget and schedule decisions; provide estimates and resource plans for electrical subsystem development and test.
  • Direct integration efforts, overseeing debugging, timing alignment, and capability verification in real-time simulations.
  • Author and approve comprehensive verification and validation plans; ensure traceability to requirements and generate formal validation reports.
  • Act as the technical liaison with government customers for test support, requirement clarification, and issue resolution.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, drive adoption of advanced design tools (e.g., high frequency simulation, signal integrity analysis), and contribute to intellectual property generation.
