About The Position

Amentum is seeking an HVAC Utilities Maintenance Technician V for their client site in Groton, CT. The successful candidate will possess outstanding skills and be committed to working with others to deliver best-in-class, unparalleled excellence in customer service and satisfaction. This role is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing proactive, predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on industrial chillers and support systems within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The technician will perform daily general duties including diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial mechanical systems, chiller plant equipment/systems, high-pressure boilers, steam turbines, pumps, valves, and pneumatic systems. They will also conduct predictive and preventative maintenance inspections, perform required preventive maintenance actions, troubleshoot and repair various utility plant support systems, and perform basic repairs on water, compressed air, and steam lines. Additionally, the technician will perform preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and control/operating systems as scheduled in the CMMS, respond to customer work orders, and provide feedback while ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards. Recommendations for improving maintenance methods and equipment performance are encouraged. The role involves analyzing and resolving work problems, understanding company policies, enforcing safety regulations, and performing daily duties safely by following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tag-out procedures while wearing required PPE.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • CT S1/S2 Heating Piping and Cooling License
  • An active EPA Universal certification
  • Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in Power/Utility/Chiller Plants
  • Ability to work in a highly regulated environment and diagnose and troubleshoot basic mechanical equipment, pumps, fans, chillers, steam turbine, gas turbine, compressors, refrigeration, and more.
  • Strong mechanical skills learned through previous work experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures.
  • Ability to obtain site specific security access including all applicable background checks.
  • Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and successfully complete a fit test for each type of respirator needed for the position or for an approved alternate respirator that provides equal or better protection from identified hazards.
  • Ability to work overtime when required, including holidays and weekends as assigned.
  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.
  • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, supply and exhaust fans, power transmission components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and more.
  • Experience performing pipefitting, welding, fabrication, and millwright related work.
  • Experience troubleshooting and/or repairing steam turbine, gas turbine, boilers with building automation systems in an industrial or research facility environment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial mechanical systems, chiller plant equipment / systems, High pressure boilers, steam turbines, pumps, valves, and pneumatic systems.
  • Conducting predictive and preventative maintenance inspections and performing required preventive maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, and more.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing various utility plant support systems.
  • Performing basic repairs on water, compressed air, and steam lines.
  • Performing preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and control and operating systems, as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Responding and providing service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Recommending measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Analyzing and resolving work problems, or assisting workers in solving work problems.
  • Understanding company policies and enforcing safety regulations.
  • Performing daily duties of the position in a safe manner by following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tag-out procedures while wearing PPE as required.
