About The Position

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to support a leading research and development facility in Mason, Ohio. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician with strong refrigeration experience and EPA certification to join a professional facilities maintenance team supporting critical building systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in HVAC and refrigeration systems, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and the ability to interact professionally with facility occupants and customers in a client-facing environment.

Requirements

  • EPA 608 Certification (Required).
  • Minimum 3 years of commercial HVAC and refrigeration experience; 5+ years strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, HVAC equipment, and associated controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in research, laboratory, pharmaceutical, or industrial environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting packaged air handlers and specialized equipment.
  • Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, or similar platforms.
  • Experience servicing refrigeration systems, ice machines, kitchen equipment, and related systems.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and building codes.
  • Experience utilizing CMMS work order systems.
  • Technical trade school education or equivalent industry training.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and water systems throughout the facility.
  • Operate and monitor refrigeration equipment, chilled water systems, air handling units, pumps, valves, piping, filters, and related mechanical equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems and critical infrastructure.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and operational rounds, recording system readings and identifying issues before they impact operations.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance logs, and equipment documentation accurately within the CMMS system.
  • Maintain tools, inventory, and maintenance supplies necessary to support facility operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, environmental regulations, and proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Support facility reliability initiatives while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, facility personnel, and management regarding equipment status and maintenance activities.
