About The Position

The HVAC Technician is responsible for performing inspections, servicing, and repair to heating, cooling, ventilating and refrigeration equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma
• A minimum of two (2) year of commercial HVAC experience.
• Refrigerant-handling certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.
• Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community and the public.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to successfully complete assignments using appropriate methods, materials, tools and equipment in maintenance work as described above.
• Ability to recognize occupational hazards and take appropriate safety precautions.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to drive light motor vehicle.
• Ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to perform light to heavy manual labor for extended periods of time under some unfavorable climatic conditions.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Ability to work in an on-call capacity and inclement weather duties.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment to include the following: central air conditioning systems, heat pumps, wall heaters, central heating systems, portable heaters, air flow ducting, walk-in coolers, freezers and all hydronic equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment, control circuitry and refrigerant circuitry.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records on equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on commercial equipment.
• Serve as boiler operator as needed.
• Must wear proper PPE (safety shoes, hearing and eye protection) as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
