About The Position

The HVAC Technician will be responsible for performing monthly preventive maintenance (PMs) on various HVAC systems, diagnosing and repairing system issues, and ensuring all work complies with safety standards. This role involves documenting maintenance activities, responding to service requests, and coordinating with internal teams and external vendors. The technician will also maintain an organized work area, participate in on-call support as needed, and perform other assigned duties. A commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer service is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in HVAC preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing HVAC maintenance and repair in commercial or industrial facilities.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and HVAC drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer service.
  • Must be able to successfully pass all pre-employment requirements (e.g., background check and drug screen).
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required site-specific safety certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or vocational training in HVAC preferred.
  • EPA certification not required for this position (no refrigeration work).

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly preventive maintenance (PMs) on HVAC systems, including air handlers, rooftop units, split systems, exhaust fans, and associated controls.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC system issues related to airflow, heating, cooling, controls, motors, belts, filters, and electrical components (non-refrigeration).
  • Inspect HVAC equipment to identify potential failures or safety concerns and recommend corrective actions.
  • Replace filters, belts, motors, and other mechanical components as part of routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Document completed PMs, repairs, findings, and recommendations using maintenance management systems or work order platforms.
  • Respond to HVAC service requests and prioritize work based on operational impact and urgency.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable safety standards, codes, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, facilities staff, and outside vendors as needed for complex repairs or projects.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly handle tools, parts, and materials.
  • Participate in on-call or after-hours support as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
