About The Position

General facility maintenance and repair duties as directed. This role requires experience with pneumatic and direct digital controls, knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration (including ice machines), and expertise in troubleshooting and repairing HVAC equipment. The technician will be responsible for cutting and threading pipe, maintaining and installing filter systems, and will have some knowledge of medical gas systems. Additional duties include installing and maintaining circulating pumps, knowledge of high-pressure steam boilers and delivery systems, estimating and requisitioning materials, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, State, DOH, and Hospital Safety Standards. The role also involves analyzing and troubleshooting electrical controls, with additional electrical experience being helpful, and proficiency in all forms of soldering. The technician will also be responsible for understanding and completing preventative maintenance programs, performing heavy lifting and climbing, and handling snow removal duties (shoveling, salting, and operating snow plows). Strong self-motivation is expected.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent
  • 5 years of HVAC Experience
  • Universal Refrigerant Reclaiming license

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or higher degree
  • 3-5 years of Healthcare Facilities or Trade Experience
  • Additional electrical experience

Responsibilities

  • Work order response, including but not limited to area temperature problems throughout the Facility, replacing/repairing pump and circulators, repairing and charging refrigerant systems, and adding or moving equipment for construction projects.
  • Preventive maintenance duties, typically including filter changes, coil cleaning, belt changes, and ice machine cleaning and service.
  • Compliance with regulatory responsibilities, ensuring appropriate function to comply with various regulatory agencies, refrigerant reclaiming, and fire barrier repair.
  • Quality Improvement, seeking ways to improve the patient/visitor experience, updating heating and cooling systems, and modifying or moving HVAC components or sensors for improved comfort.
