The HVAC Technician assists in the daily operations of the Facilities Services Department and primarily performs maintenance on HVAC units. This role is responsible for maintaining predictive and corrective maintenance schedules for all mechanical equipment with an entry-level knowledge of HVAC systems. The technician also maintains and responds to issues related to fire alarm systems and is familiar with fire panels. Additionally, the HVAC Technician serves as a leader in conserving university resources through quality energy management and other environmental stewardship practices. The role requires continuous development of knowledge in campus building automation systems, adjusting systems and schedules as needed, and staying current with changes to control systems after renovations. Strong customer service skills, including punctuality, dependability, and effective communication, are essential. The technician will complete and close out work orders in a timely manner, working quickly and neatly with an understanding of the impact on university operations. The position also involves performing other maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, locksmithing, carpentry, and equipment controls as needed.
